I fish sand beaches around 100% of the time…. For waders I have used bootfoot until 2023. I switched to a Simms G3 stockingfoot waders (XL Regular). I wear NeoSport 3mm Hi-Top size 12 dive boots with these waders. I also wear NeoSport Wetsuits Premium Neoprene 2mm (size 11) Water Socks, between the waders and the bootsThis combo keeps sand out, their light weight makes walking the sand much easier. Can thank Jerry Audet’s Surf Scenarios for the idea. This is a great thing.
In the summer with the warm weather and surf I really like walking the surf in the dark without the waders. So these Neo Sport boots with the socks protect my feet, not much sand gets in them and they have a small strap that keeps the zipper up.

Using braid line the casting index finger needs some type of protection. I use Howies Hockey Tape Cloth, 1 Inch. Two wraps around the index finger. Switched to this in 2022 and its great. Used Johnson and Johnson waterproof tape for 20+ years, then they changed the material. Stupid clowns. The Howies Hockey Tape is better than the J and J, stays on the finger, and is resilient, not much fraying if any.

My surf Belt is a Bianchi Model 8100 Web Duty Belt 2″ – PatrolTekā¢ This is loop lined and made from tough double-layered web construction. Smooth edge-binding and features the Tri-Releaseā¢ shatter-resistant polymer buckle. It’s 3-point release provides extra security from inadvertent release. 2 in. (50 mm) belt width.
I always carry pliers Van Staal 6″, They are easy to get into a fishes mouth. After buying one or two pairs of pliers each year for 20+ years, these are incredibly reliable. The extra $$ will be saved after a few years and without the frustration of the others failing.
I also carry on every trip KNIPEX Tools – CoBolt S, Compact Bolt Cutter (7101160), 6-Inch that cut up to 4/0 hooks quickly. Carrying some type of hook cutters is a no brainer for me, I have used them to seperate me from a Striper one night. I have cut hooks on other fisherman at 1:00 AM and also if I hook a fish and its a tough hook removal I don’t hesitate in cutting a hook to make the release quicker. I spray the cutters them with CorrosionX and that extends their life in the surf exponentially. I switched to the Manley in 2022, they are lighter and do the job. Prior to the Manley I used 8″ Bolt Cutters made by H.K.Porter.

I have been using this Rayovac Sportsman 3 in 1 light for 20 years. Waterproof, has 1 red light and 2 white lights. I wear it around my neck with the strap it comes with. Had it fail one time (used my tiny back-up) after it failed on that trip. Carrying a back-up light is a must.

I hate wearing gloves, but when it gets crazy cold I wear Simms Gloves. Can use my fingers and when they get cold, just cover them with the mitten. Also use the Simms Freestone Foldover Mitts, they have fleece material which is warm!

Zap A-Gap Glue, I use to glue jig heads to rubber, pretty much whatever I need to quickly glue something. It drys crazy fast. Waterproof.
