Riding the Beach

When I fished Jersey I would ride on Island Beach. Had a Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, Liberty and Patriot. All were good on the beach. Upon my decision to fish Long Island almost exclusively I hit up Demo with a Honda Pilot that was great on the sand. Currently I am driving a 2020 Subaru Outback. The Outback is the best vehicle I have had as far as handling the sand, Plus 30-32 miles per gallon. For those that say all-wheel drives like this Outback should not be allowed on the sand……well obviously your talking about something you know nothing about. With this Outback I can fit my rods inside, I wanted to go more fishing stealth mode with this vehicle.

The Mitsubishi Outlander 81, 000 miles last rip was June 28th, 2020. Was a great vehicle for the beach. Never stuck. 26-30 MPG. Not a single maintenance issue. I always dropped the tire pressure to 12-14 PSI. Never got stuck.

For transporting rods I use The RACAROD. I have had it on two vehicles and never had an issue. I do use a JOYTUTUS Keyed Alike Hitch Pin Set (5/8″ and/or 1/2″) Trailer Hitch Pin to lock in the reels. Hal is great to deal with, builds a great product and is very helpful.
