Bucktails

Some fishermen say all you need is Bucktails to catch. While some of these fishermen have incredible skills (reading water, perfect presentation of Bucktails, a lot of “skill”), I think they are full of shit. To many conditions have better artificial choices than bucktails. For me however they are excellent choices in current and getting deep to the bottom, the best choice in many applications such as that. And there is skill to fishing and catching on Bucktails, developing confidence in them, I am not skilled in the art of fishing bucktails in all conditions.

I like Tinmans Bucktails. Quality. Great customer service. Dan’s website has a great variety bucktails, jig heads, even teasers. Great stuff. https://tinman-tackle.myshopify.com/

I have a marking system I use on bucktails. A line = 1/2 oz, X=3/4 oz, dot = 1 oz, (2) dots = 2 ox, (3) dots = 3 oz, 4 dots = 4 oz and 5 dots = 5 oz. A dot and line = 1.5 oz. I mark the top and bottom of the bucktails with a sharpie. They need to be maintained.

Dartspin on a Bucktail. I stopped using the Dartspin, whatever they are made out of melts other rubber, creates a mess.
