2023 Needles

October 2022, I looked into these plugs and decided to give them a shot. The 24 7 Chubby Needle. 9 inches, 3.25 oz. Tail weighted. It casts.…..far. It gets deep quicker.

24 7 7″ slow sink needle. I like it.

Surf Asylum Flat Glides, like a needle but with a more distinct glide, side to side. I like black over yellow (so I paint them).

RM Smith Thin Needle. 5 1/2″ and ~1.2 oz. A rocket and sinks. So I saw these and thought they would be great to throw over sand bars, liked their profile, liked the color. Then I fished it and nothing. Zero. Was ready to give up on the plug (its a confidence thing) and then one trip I get two solid hits on it, one was on for a few seconds and was taking drag. Next 3 trips and the plug starts catching. Crazy what confidence does in fishing a plug. They are now a “Go To” Plug.

High Hook Needles. 2020… Started throwing these. There are some large, some huge, some light some that float and some that sink. Mike Mullen knows Needles. High Hook Lures.

Super Strike needles are available in all kinds of sizes and colors. Again, at night black over yellow is my favorite color. These can get down deep.

Some other Needles I really like. Choopy makes a nice small slow sinking needle, Matt Hoff’s Needles are rockets, Salty’s needles are slow sinking (great plugs), Wally’s needle and RM Smiths floating needles Can’t forget Habs….Never forget Habs
